Cold Patch Mixture

Petra Cold Patch Mixture

Instant Road Repair Material

PETRA CPM consists of polymer-modified bitumen, meticulously selected, and graded dry aggregates and other additives. It is a ready-to-use high-performance patching compound for deteriorated roads and potholes. After compaction, it can be immediately trafficked for permanent reinstatement.

Characteristics:

  • Easy and instant application.
  • Use directly from the pack.
  • Suitable for varying weather conditions.
  • No mixing additives and application of tack coat.
  • Fast-setting property allows for immediate trafficking.
  • No rutting out, marking or picking up on shoes or tires after full compaction.
  • Nontoxic, non-flammable and safe to use.

Uses:

  • Repairing potholes and patches in roads, pavements and motorways.
  • Repairing holes in industrial floors.
  • Repairing pavements and car parks.
  • Repairing roads damaged by freezing weather.
  • Repairing loading/unloading areas.
  • To make small access ramps for pavements, garages and private entrances..

Technical Properties:

PETRA CPM is a pre-blended, ready-to-use reactive asphalt that comes in a single component and can be applied cold. It hardens quickly, allowing for road repairs without interrupting the flow of traffic. PETRA CPM can resist high loads if applied on a clean, solid, and well-compacted substrate that is not subjected to any movement or deflection. It can repair potholes and patches from 20mm to 70mm deep. For deeper cavities, multiple layers can be applied, but each layer must be compacted accordingly. Once PETRA CPM hardens, it does not soften, even at high temperatures. It is also resistant to freezing weather and rain and guarantees a stable repair that is like conventional hot-applied asphalt.

Application Surface Preparation:

Cut the damaged pothole into straight line square or rectangle shapes by using the cutter. Remove all loose debris from the pothole. The substrate must be clean, sound and free of all waste materials, oils and any standing water. During the winter, if there is ice on the road, it must be removed to make sure the product bonds well to the substrate.

Application:

PETRA CPM is a ready-to-use product that doesn’t require any mixing before application. To repair a pothole, pour the product directly onto it and spread it out using a trowel, spatula, rake, or shovel to form a layer slightly higher than the surface to be repaired. Immediately compact the repaired area by tamping it down using a mechanical vibratory plate compactor or a road roller for large areas. The complete hardening process takes several hours, depending on the surrounding temperature. You can allow light to medium traffic to pass over the repaired area to assist in the compaction of the product without damaging it. However, if vehicles have to manoeuvre in the area, do not go over the surface that has been repaired until the product has completely hardened.

Cleaning:

Tools can be cleaned with water as long as the product is wet. Once dry, by mechanical means only.

Quality Assurance:

Petra Oil is an ISO 9001 – 2015 Quality Assured company.

Coverage:

Coverage rates vary based on surface condition & application area. Typical coverage area for 25mm thickness: 57.5 to 62.5 kg per 1 sq.m.

Shelf Life:

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the container tightly closed. Shelf life is 9 months from the manufacturing date if stored in its original, sealed packaging.

Packing & Storage:

PETRA CPM is available in pails weighing 25 Kg. It is important to store the material in a covered area, away from direct sunlight and protected from extreme weather conditions. If the packaging is damaged, the product may cure slowly due to moisture intrusion.
