EN Standard – Bitumen 40/60
Penetration Grade Bitumen 40/60 is semi-hard grade bitumen that has strong adhesive properties and high softening value that assures durability and integrity of pavements and structures. The penetration range of bitumen 40/60 is between 40 to 60 tenths of a millimetre. The penetration value of the bitumen is determined by the depth of the needle in the bitumen during laboratory tests. The chemical and physical properties of the bitumen depend upon the crude oil used in the refining process. Its high softening point, low ductility and high viscosity ensure strong pavements and longevity of structures.
USES:
Penetration Grade Bitumen 40/60 is ultimately used in asphalt pavements and road construction.
- Bitumen 40/60 is used in road construction in various regions with temperature variations as it is exceptionally resilient to adverse weather conditions and heavy traffic loads.
- Primarily employed in creating hot mix asphalt for the base and wearing courses, owing to its exceptional adhesive properties.
